Since 1972, Ted's Signs has been a family-owned and operated business serving the Brainerd Lakes area with high-quality signage, lettering, and custom graphics. Our story began with Ted, a city slicker who moved to the North Country from Minneapolis. With a keen eye for detail and a knack for pleasing customers, Ted honed his sign-making skills under the tutelage of Ray, a seasoned sign shop owner. From freehand painting to rewiring vintage beer signs, Ted absorbed everything he could about the art and craft of signage.

Recognizing the potential in this overlooked area, Ted and his wife Joanne, a lifelong resident of the Brainerd Lakes area, made the move to open their own shop. Back then, the five-mile drive to their location felt like venturing into the wilderness to Ted, but it turned out to be the perfect location to build their business. Joanne, a natural manager, quickly established the shop's reputation for friendly service and built lasting relationships with customers.

Over the years, technology has dramatically changed the sign-making industry. When Brandi, Ted and Joanne's daughter, took over the reins, she embraced these advancements. She invested in cutting-edge software, computers, and plotters, allowing for remarkably precise designs, quicker turnaround times, and the ability to see the final product on screen before production. This modern approach kept Ted's Signs on the cutting edge while preserving its core values of quality craftsmanship and personalized service.

Today, Ted's Signs continues to thrive under Brandi's leadership, now joined by her husband, Al. Al, who learned the traditional methods from Ted himself, brings a wealth of knowledge about sign repair, restoration, and troubleshooting. He further expands the company's expertise with a deep understanding of the latest advancements in LED technology and digital signage.
